The Wines of Chablis A Comprehensive Guide to the World's Most Famous White Wine

Beauroy

The vineyards that form the Beauroy 1er Cru are the northernmost on the the Serein’s left bank. Beauroy is particularly well known as it is one of the most beautiful climats of Chablis, overlooking the lake of Beines. Despite an admirable terroir, which faces south-southwest, the Serein seems to act as a boundary that prevents Beauroy from attaining the richness of its counterpart across the river, Fourchuame; even so the wines are similar, with Beuaroy being more earthy and masculine but not quite as long-lived.. It is deep, but elegant. Its nose hints at yellow fruits and underbrush with a distinct bouquet of nuts and cream. The mineral character of Chablis is expressed on the palate. It is often said that Beauroy combines hints from above and below, that is wild mushrooms and sous bois from the woods atop the hill and a saline/seawater character from the Lake it overlooks. Beauroy is generally for medium-term drinking. Beauroy includes the subclimats (Cote de) Troesmes and Cote de Savant.
